Tuesday Night Film

The All Souls Documentary Series shows a film at 7p.m. each Tuesday. Our series emphasizes quality films with social justice themes that rarely make it to conventional movie theaters. Carolyn Macdonald long time coordinator of our locally recognized Forum lecture series facilitates this acclaimed documentary series in concert with a group of passionate volunteers. 

Each screening is followed by a lively facilitated discussion. Admission is free and popcorn and snacks are available for a very nominal fee. No tickets or reservations are needed. The public is welcome. Join us!

We Are Dad
Michael Horvat • 2005 • 71 minutes
A gay couple who are pediatric AIDS nurses become foster parents to infants who are HIV positive. The film chronicles the family’s struggles from the early days of the AIDS pandemic until the oldest are teenagers. However, they have not been allowed to adopt any of the children because of Florida’s discriminatory ban on gay adoption.

Eyes on the Prize: Bridge to Freedom

This is the seventh episode of the critically acclaimed 14-part series on civil rights in American during the period 1954-1984. In December 1964 Martin Luther King Jr. at age 35 becomes the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. A decade of lessons is applied in the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. A major victory is won when the federal Voting Rights Bill passes, but civil rights leaders know they have new challenges ahead.

Are the world's largest drug companies, paradoxically, major obstacles to making a healthier world? The film focuses on Big Pharma, the ten largest pharmaceutical makers, who account for 500 billion dollars of world health spending a year. Officials from all sides debate the impact of drug companies' patenting, "intellectual property," pricing and new product development strategies on global public health.
